This Fall the Chebeague and Cumberland Land Trust is applying for national accreditation status from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. CCLT’s application submission is the culmination of an intensive three-year effort to meet the highest standards and practices in the land trust community. Only three other land trusts in Maine have achieved this status. We are proud to be leading the charge for smaller, volunteer-based land trusts.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs and recognizes organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting natural places and working lands forever.

As a member and friend of CCLT, we invite you to submit comments to the Land Trust Commission regarding your interaction with the Trust. Comments must be signed and relate to how CCLT complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of our land trust – acquisition, stewardship, financial, and general operations. To learn more about the program and for the full list of standards see www.landtrustaccreditation.org.

Thank you very much,
Penny Asherman
CCLT President and Accreditation Chair
