A record number of competitors at the 24th Annual Chebeague Island 4th of July Road Race and Fun Run.

Topher Neumann finished the 4.2 mile Road Race first at 26:03. Libby marshall was the first woman at 29:38. The youngest runner, nathan Raichel, aged 10, arrived too late to participate in the kids' Fun Run. After a little encouragement, however, he signed up for the Road Race instead. he finished in fine style at 39:49. Last year's Fun Bradbury, moved up to the Road Race this year and came in first in the 14 and under category. His time was 31:44.

The growing interest in runing on Chebeague was in evidence this 4th of July when the number of under 14 year old children running and finishing in the Fun Run more than doubled to 40.

Lots of very young competitors this year indicate that both the Fun Run and the Road Race are going to be very exciting for many years to come.

This year's winners of the Fun Run were Rory McCullom who finished first at 9:09 for the 1.4 mile race and Alissa Hamilton who was the first girl finishing at 10:21.

The adult field had 40 competitors and finishers. The times of the winners:
