Richard Cordes Henkel

Richard Cordes Henkel, 55, of Pembroke Avenue died Sunday in Bowdoinham.

Born in Portland, son of Stanley W. and Cecila E. Cordes Henkel, he graduated from Deering High School in 1959. Earlier in life, he drove a truck for Toppi Sand and Gravel in Westbrook. Mr. Henkel was an accomplished organist.

Mr. Henkel was a communicant of St. Paul's Anglican Church, where he would often play the organ during Mass. Mr. Henkel also played the accordion.

He was a volunteer at Serenity House in Portland, where he received an award for his many volunteered hours. Mr. Henkel enjoyed boating in Casco Bay.

Surviving are his sister, Charlotte I. Riddle of westbrook; two nephews, Timothy H. and William L. Riddle, both of Westbrook.

A spring memorial service will be held. Arrangements are by Hay & Peabody Funeral Home.
