Where: Chebeague Community Church with reception to follow at the Chebeague Island Hall Community Center.

Coming from away: For Nancy Hill’s service on October 17, 2026, please park at the Chebeague Transportation Company (CTC) Satellite Parking Lot, 1 Thomas Drive, Cumberland Foreside, and arrive by 11:30 a.m. for the 11:45 departure. Please check in with the parking attendant upon arrival. Same-day guests attending the service will not need to pay for parking or boat fare. A bus will take guests to Cousins Island Wharf, followed by a 15-minute boat ride to Chebeague Island, where transportation will be available to the 1:30 p.m. service at Chebeague Community Church and afterward to the reception at Chebeague Island Community Hall. Return transportation to the boat will be available at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Nancy Lee Hill—vibrant, exceptional, and one of a kind—passed away on August 31, 2026.
Born Nancy Lee Ross on July 28, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, Nancy graduated from Wayland High School in 1968. Her adventurous spirit took her to Hawaii, where she attended college, became a nurse, and began what would become a lifelong career caring for others.
While on Maui, Nancy married James Garcia, with whom she had two beautiful daughters. After returning to New England, she reunited with her summertime sweetheart, David Hill. Together, they married and welcomed two more beautiful daughters.
Nancy was a nurse for her entire career, but caring for people was simply part of who she was. She was an educator, an entrepreneur and also served her communities through the Yarmouth Town Council, Chebeague Island Recreation Center, Chebeague Island Health Clinic and as a volunteer with both Yarmouth and Chebeague Island Fire/Rescue.
Nancy was an avid and extraordinarily talented quilter, generously donating her beautiful creations to fundraisers and giving countless quilts to family and friends. On Chebeague Island, she was also known for sharing coffee, baked goods, and good company with her neighbors.
She had a wonderfully zany personality, a sharp and quick wit, and a sense of humor that could catch you completely off guard. Nancy made people laugh, made people feel welcome, and never quite did anything halfway.
Nancy is survived by her husband, David Hill, of Chebeague Island, Maine; her four daughters: Victoria Gray (Dave Kruse) of Golden, Colorado; Amanda Mailloux (Roxanne) of Centennial, Colorado; Elizabeth Schutte (Tom) of The Hague, Netherlands; and Katherine Hill (Nate Barrett) of Yarmouth, Maine; her siblings Beverly Johnson of Chebeague Island, Maine, Charlotte Johnson (Scott) of Laguna Woods, California and Glenn Ross (Nancy) of Franklin, Massachusetts.
She was the proud grandmother of Amaya Gurule of Haiku, Hawaii; Kanoa Gray of Denver, Colorado; Adelaide and Eleanor Mailloux of Centennial, Colorado; and Evelyn, Felix, and Benjamin Schutte of The Hague, Netherlands, as well as the beloved great-grandmother of Ezra. She was Aunt Nancy to dozens of nieces and nephews around the world.
She is predeceased by her parents Norman Ross and Elizabeth Jane Baker and her brother Charles Ross.
Nancy touched and changed many lives through her work, her service, her generosity, her humor, and her love. Her quilts will continue to provide warmth, her stories will continue to bring laughter, and her memory will live on through the many people fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
Services will be held on October 17, 2026 at 1:30pm at the Chebeague Community Church on Chebeague Island, Maine. Reception to follow at the Chebeague Island Hall Community Center. Vibrant colors and florals encouraged in celebration of Nancy’s vivacious personality.
