Jodi Lefebvre Chamberland (1962-2022)

Jodi Lorraine Lefebvre Chamberland passed away at age 59 on February 3, 2022, in Portsmouth, NH after a long illness. Jodi was born in Portland, ME, June 27, 1962, the daughter of Joseph and Alice Doughty Lefebvre on June 27, 1962, and came home from the hospital to Chebeague Island, her mother’s ancestral home - a place that was always in her heart.

Jodi grew up in Concord and Penacook, NH and attended Concord Schools. As a child she spent many days in Whites Park and on the banks of the Penacook River and developed a lifelong passion for walking, something she continued during her illness.

As a child Jodi looked forward to summers when she returned to Chebeague where she formed deep friendships and connected with her island family.  She loved family picnics at the shore, and participating in plays, parades, and gymnastics.  But her favorite activity was “running the roads”, as her grandmother described her galivanting with her island jodifriends.

Jodi spent her adult life raising her children, helping her mother, and enjoying her grandchildren.

Like her late father, Jodi had a passion for gardening, working in her vegetable and flower gardens and tending her house plants, gave her great joy. She also enjoyed crocheting and other hand crafts.

For the past four years Jodi lived in Dover NH surrounded by a very caring community.  Despite her illness, until recently, she was still able to travel to Concord to see her mother.

Jodi Chamberland was predeceased by her father who was her kindred spirit, and her grandparents, Ellsworth and Melba Hamilton Miller. She is survived by her mother, Alice Doughty Lefebvre; her children, Joseph Chamberland, Kendra Chamberland, and Desiree Kenyon; her grandchildren, Samuel Chamberland and Sophia Rumley. She is also survived by siblings, Joseph Lefebvre Jr., John Lefebvre, and Carla Joyce; long-time special friend Bobby Kenyon; aunt, Donna Miller Damon and uncle, David Miller; and many dear friends on Chebeague Island.

The family would like to thank Casey Reynolds, who provided great support for Jodi as her illness progressed.

A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2022 on the ledges at her grandfather’s shore on Chebeague Island– a place she treasured.  An announcement will be made when plans are finalized.
