Phyllis Audrey Cacoulidis

phyllisHOPE ISLAND - Phyllis Audrey Cacoulidis, beloved wife of John Cacoulidis, born Dec. 18, 1926, passed away May 6, 2016. She was 89 years of age.

A resident of Hope Island, Maine, her private estate, developed and cared for with her husband, was a source of pride and joy. An avid gardener, lover of animals and the outdoors, she transformed Hope Island into a beautiful working farm with chicken, geese, swan, ducks, peacocks, deer, horses, a mule named Emma and her five dogs. She routinely took in rescue animals and cared for local wildlife.

A prominent business woman in commercial real estate, she achieved a rare dual rating as a licensed helicopter and airplane pilot, having flown extensively throughout the country in her private aircraft. She cared deeply for battered and abused women and girls. She had an outgoing larger than life presence and sense of humor, but remained deeply grounded and accessible to all that knew her. A deep loving bond was shared between her and her husband and they were devoted to each other to the end of her life.

A private ceremony will be held at the couple's private chapel on Hope Island to commemorate her life and passing.
