Marilyn C. Calder

PENOBSCOT - Marilyn C. Calder, 84, of Penobscot, died March 12, 2016, at Seaport Village Healthcare in Ellsworth. Born June 3, 1931, in Castine, ME, she was the daughter of Mervyn and Hazel (Butler) Clement.

Marilyn and her twin sister were the first set of twins born at Castine Hospital. Marilyn graduated from Bucksport High School and furthered her education at Westbrook College. While living in Portland, she met her husband to-be, Norman Calder from Chebeague Island. Chebeague Island, along with the family and friends there, forever held a place in her heart.

She is survived by 3 children, David Calder of Penobscot, Nancy Carter and husband, Reggie of Bucksport, Karen Koos and husband, Doug of Castine; grandchildren, Adam Carter and wife, Karena of Waterville, Dan Carter of Waterville, Courtney and Madison Koos of Castine; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Carter of Waterville; twin sister, Carolyn Smith and her husband, John of Limington; step-sister, Barbara Black of Belfast; brothers, Linwood Clement of Penobscot and Robert Clement of Hancock; sisters-in-law, Mary Clement of Penobscot and Pauline Clement of Orland; along with several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Norman; daughter, Linda; brothers, Merle Clement and Lawrence Clement; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Clement and Ruth Clement; and step-mother, Carrie Clement.

A service will be held at 11 am, Friday, March 25, at Mitchell Tweedie Funeral Home, Bucksport, ME with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. A reception will be held immediately following at the Franklin Street United Methodist Church in Bucksport.
