Eva Conrad

Eva Conrad passed away peacefully on July 9, 2004 at Springbrook Nursing Home at the age of 88.

Eva was raised on a farm in Massachusetts with two sisters and three brothers. She later married Lloyd Conrad and had two daughters, Helen and Jeanne. Eva and 'Connie' shared their love of motorcycles and traveled all over the east coast on their matching Harleys.

In 1965, they retired to Chebeague Island, where Eva kept busy running a gift shop and tending to her large garden. She always had small jobs on the side, but never failed to find time for her friends and family, especially her daughters and granddaughters, Sandra and Susan, who spent their summers with her on the Island.

Eva loved to read and play cards. Many of her Island evenings were spent around the card table with those she loved. Eva moved off the Island in 1987 to live in Freeport near her daughter Helen.

She will be fondly remembered and missed by those whose lives she touched.

She is survived by sisters, Blanche and Irene; brothers, Nelson and Ralph; daughters, Helen Damone of Freeport, and Jeanne Vonderschmidt of Sarasota; two granddaughers, Sandra and Susan; and five great-grandchildren, Adam, Jeremy, George, Conrad and Hannah.

A memorial service will be held on Chebeague Island at the Methodist Church on Saturday, July 31.
