Elery Fowler

Elery Fowler ,74, died March 8th, at Maine Medical in Portland after a long illness.

He was born on Long Island, the son of Woodbury and Etta Floyd Fowler. He attended Long Island and Portland schools and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a proud lobsterman on Chebeague for 50 years and an avid lobsterboat racing fan.

He was predeceased by an infant son, Elery Fowler Jr., five brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife Connie Stilphen Fowler, with whom he would have celebrated their fiftieth anniversary in June, a daughter Karen Milliken and her husband Paul of Saco, his beloved granddaughter, Courtney, sisters in-law, Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Priscilla and brother in-law Richard, all of Chebeague. Also by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 3-5 and 7-9 pm at Hay & Peabody Funeral home, 749 Congress St., Portland, where a funeral will be held at 12 noon Wednesday.

Internment on Chebeague will be announced in the spring.
