SAN MATEO, CA -  HANSON, DOUGLAS RALPH – 80, passed away on April 28, 2020 with his family and longtime significant other at his bedside. 

He is survived by his son Brent, two daughters Kelly and Melissa, sister Marilyn Butters, brother Richard, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Doug grew up in a cozy house in Falmouth which was built for his parents by his grandfather McLellan.

His summers as a child were spent at Chebeague Island, first as a ’West-ender’ living in the family cottage then as an ‘East-ender’ when he worked at the Hillcrest Hotel for his uncle Lawson.   He became a junior member of the Great Chebeague Golf Club and at 17 won the Junior golf Championship.

During his freshman year at the University of Maine he joined Sigma Chi fraternity where he enjoyed some wonderful friendships.  He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering and later earned his MBA at Boston University. 

Eventually Doug moved to California as an employee of Hewlett Packet where he worked for many years before moving into land investments and development.

Whether in Maine or California, Doug loved the ocean and boating; he was truly in his element spending weekends with friends and family on his boat in Sausalito, CA and will be greatly missed by all.
