Sally A. Hudgins

sallySally A. Hudgins, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 28, 2025.

Born in Belmont, Massachusetts, and raised in Andover, Sally went on to enjoy a fulfilling career in nursing, serving in hospitals and doctor’s offices. She was known for her gentle touch and compassionate care for patients and colleagues alike. After retiring, she made her home in York, Me where she was able to enjoy her love of the ocean which started from her lifelong summers with her family, and friends on Chebeague Island Maine.

Sally was predeceased by her beloved husband, and high school sweetheart Richard C. Hudgins, and her son, Steven C. Hudgins. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Hudgins and his wife Karen of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughters Leslie McCarty and her husband Mike of Dacula, GA, and Deborah Rahn and her husband Craig of Hampton, NH. She was a loving grandmother to Ryan Hudgins and his wife Hannah of Portland, ME; Kara Gappa and her husband Caleb of Castle Rock, CO; Cody Rahn and Jake Rahn. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Wells and Jude Gappa.

Sally is also survived by her siblings: Bill McCullom and his wife Liz of Andover, MA; Tom McCullom and his wife Jannette of South Berwick, ME; and Joanne Anderson and her husband Bruce of Eliot, ME. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Sally had a deep faith and was a lifelong member of South Church in Andover, with a selfless spirit she volunteered in many organizations as helping others was truly one of her greatest callings. Sally had a deep love for nature and found great joy in tending her flower garden, watching birds, and knitting by the window. She delighted in baking for friends and family and was always quick with a warm smile or comforting word. Her sweet spirit, compassion, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
