Marjorie Elaine Munroe

Marjorie Elaine Munroe, 86, of Chebeague Island passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough.

Marjorie was born March 11, 1937 in Portland the daughter of Ralph and Lida (Hamilton) Small. Marjorie married Wilbert (Bill) Munroe on July 21, 1955; they were married for 52 years. Before having children, she worked as a secretary. Since then she has been a homemaker.

She was a member of the Chebeague Island Historical Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Seventh Day Adventist Church of Portland, Ladies Aide, and the Chebeague Island Grange where she also has served as Secretary. Marjorie kept birth, anniversary, and death records of Chebeague residents. She could recall their birthdays by memory and knew most histories of each home on the island. She also enjoyed knitting, the products of which many enjoyed.

She was survived by two children Ralph Munroe and wife Kim, Carol Allen and husband John; granddaughters Lida Green and husband Joe, Megan Munroe, Camryn Allen, and Morgan Allen; and great granddaughter Emily Green, and several nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Wilbert Munroe and a sister Geraldine Killian.

Visitation will be 4-7 pm Friday, May 19 at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. There will be a funeral May 20 at the Chebeague Island church at 1:30 pm followed by a graveside service and a reception to follow at the Island Parish house.
