Nathan Edward Stewart

NEW GLOUCESTER - Nathan Edward Stewart passed away suddenly on Oct. 15, 2005, while working in New York City harbor.

He was a chief mate on the Davis Sea tug, for K-Sea Transportation Company, where he worked for the past four years.

Nathan was a graduate of Yarmouth High School, Class of 1998, and the Maine Maritime Academy, in the Class of 2003.

Nate was of a quiet, gentle nature. Although he appeared to be shy to strangers, he built strong friendships with almost everyone who crossed his path. He was filled with a deep passion for life and adventure that he shared with all. He was a very high achiever, but never boastful.

Nathan was a very family oriented individual, and would do anything to help anyone. He recently moved into a new home in New Gloucester, where he lived with the love of his life, Kristen O'Connell, and their dog, Hawser. His devotion to Hawser was a great testament of what a wonderful father he would have been.

Nate never stopped thinking about various topics and had so many wonderful dreams. He had a great love for travel, golf, fishing, white water kayaking, but most of all, boating, life on the sea, and the occasional party. He provided great comedic relief with the most unique sense of humor imaginable, and his presence provided those around him with ultimate calmness and relaxation. He was the pride and joy of his family and girlfriend.

Nathan spent most of his life on Chebeague Island, where he grew up and developed some of the closest friendships of his life. He loved the island community, its natural treasures and the serenity it provided him. The island, his friends and family, will always be in his heart.

He leaves behind his beloved girlfriend Kristen; his father, James; his brother, Jason; his mother, Mary; and step father, Jim Clayman.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main St., Yarmouth on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow Mass at Chebeague Island Cemetery.
