Capt. Ronald Lee Doughty, 63

AUBURN - Capt. Ronald Lee Doughty, 63, of Taft Ave. and formerly of Chebeague Island, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at his home with his wife by his side after a long illness.

He was born in South Portland on Dec. 26, 1941 the son of Herbert and Charlotte (Fortin) Doughty.

Ronnie started his 50-year love for the ocean at the young age of 13. Through the years he fished for lobsters, clams, scallops, urchins and ground fish. But, deep sea fishing was the love of his life.

He enjoyed his animals and being kind and caring to all people he came in contact with.

Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, sister Barbara Wilcox and a son Herbert Clinton Doughty II.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Linda Doughty of Auburn; sons, Ronald James Doughty of North Carolina, William Joseph Doughty of Florida, Frank Elvin Gerow of Maryland, and Skip Lee Doughty of Windham; daughters, Sheila Lynn Magnuson of Florida, and Barbara Ruth Morris of Florida; sister Mickey Hanmer of Naples; brother, Bob Doughty of Phippsburg; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at the Crooked River Cemetery, Route 11, Naples.
