Charles R. Ross, 85, died February 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Boston, Massachusetts, after a brief illness. Charlie was born February 20, 1937, in Boston, to Norman C. Ross and Eleanor Falvey. He grew up in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Charlie then served in the Navy as an electrician for four years.
Charlie worked as a Ford automobile mechanic for several years. He then owned Charlie’s Auto Repair Shop on Hyde Park Avenue for many years before starting Auto Electric Supply in Hyde Park, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2016.
Throughout his adult life, Charlie was the go-to person for rescuing all his friends and relatives when they had car troubles. He was always willing to drop everything to help others. His siblings as well as his nieces and nephews looked up to Charlie for his warmth, reliability, generosity, and humor.
Charlie had a summer home in Humarock, Massachusetts, for many years. He also shared a summer home on Chebeague Island, Maine, where he was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing from his boat.
Charlie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine (Callaghan) Ross. He was the cherished brother of Beverly S. Johnson and her husband, Stephen C., of Chebeague Island, Maine; Nancy L. Hill and her husband, David R., of Chebeague Island, Maine; Charlotte S. Johnson and her husband, Scott A., of Eugene, Oregon; Glenn C. Ross and his wife, Nancy P., of Franklin, Massachusetts; and the late Eleanor Jenkins Plotner and her late husband, Franklin, of Canton, Massachusetts. Charlie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as his dear companion, Therese Feyler, of Hyde Park, and her family.
At Charlie's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chebeague Historical Society or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements by Carroll-Thomas Funeral Home of Hyde Park, Massachusetts.
