Rosalyn F. Barrett Weagle

FREEPORT -- Rosalyn F. Barrett Weagle, 71, died with her family by her side on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, following a battle with cancer.

Rosalyn was born on Oct. 4, 1939, in Winchester, N.H., the daughter of Charles W. Barrett and Ruth A. Fuller. She graduated from Thayer High School in Winchester, N.H., in 1957, and Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing in Keene N.H., in 1960.

She met her husband Edward at a USO dance in Boston, and after their marriage in 1960, they moved to Chebeague Island and lived there for 30 years. She was a Registered Nurse and had the honor of being the first RN to practice on the Island. Along with her husband she owned and operated Chebeague Island Seafood for many years. After the death of her husband in 1990 she moved to Freeport and reestablished her nursing career.

Her many interests included cooking, sewing, gardening and reading.

Her husband, Edward L. Weagle, brother Charles W. Barrett Jr., and sister Nancy Finn predeceased her. She is survived by her five children, Edward B. Weagle and his wife Tammy Estabrook of Yarmouth, Robert Weagle and his partner Tim Cushner of Lantana, Fla., Rosalyn (Lyn) Glassock and her husband Frank of Yarmouth, Rosalie F. Weagle of Freeport and Erik Weagle and his wife Paige of Cumberland; and 10 grandchildren, Tyler Weagle, James Weagle, Jordan Glassock, Ashton Weagle, Devan Glassock, Emeline Weagle, Evan Boisvert, Noah Boisvert, Isabelle Boisvert and Rohan Boisvert.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m., at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main St., in Yarmouth.
