AMSTERDAM, N.Y.- Samuel Perry Gaston, 87, of Northampton Rd., Amsterdam, passed away early Friday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Facility in Amsterdam.
He was born in Newcastle, Pa., on Nov. 10, 1915, a son of Dr. Perry S. and Elizabeth H. Hutchinson Gaston.
He was raised in Newcastle, Pa., and was educated there. He later was a graduate of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. Mr. Gaston was employed as a Sales Engineer for the U.S. Steel Co. in Pittsburgh, Ohio and later at the Republic Steel Co. of Ohio. He lived for a time in Beaver Falls, Pa. and in Massillon, Ohio.
He spent most of his summer at the family summer home in Chebeague Island.
He was a member of the New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
He married Margaret Brock Gaston on Oct. 23, 1943. In addition to his wife survivors include, a son, John Brock Gaston of Amsterdam, N.Y.; two daughters, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Hutchinson Gaston of Manchester, N.H., and Emily G. Muller of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and cousins also survive Mr. Gaston. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Gaston Gardner; a daughter-in-law and son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the New England Congregational Church, 24 Circular St., Saratoga Springs, N.Y. There are no calling hours.
