Virginia Shattuck

WEST GROTON -- Virginia (Woolfrey) Shattuck, 53, a West Groton resident, died Wednesday, June 21, at her home, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Chris Shattuck, to whom she was married for 27 years.

She was born in Ayer, Dec. 19, 1952, daughter of the late Ernest and Virginia (MacCormack) Woolfrey. She was raised in Townsend, and graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School. She later graduated from Fitchburg State College.

Mrs. Shattuck was a manager for many years at Fitchburg Wholesale Hardware.

After having children, she dedicated her life to caring for her family. She also had a lifelong passion for animals and nature.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Julie; a son, Jonathan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Sue Ann Woolfrey of Townsend, and Richard and Debra Woolfrey of Somerset; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Neil Teachout of Bangor, Maine, and Cynthia and John Donbrowo of New Bern, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
