P.J. Hale

P.J. Hale, 76, of Peaks Island died Sunday at the Barron Center.

She was born in Caribou.

An orphan, she grew up in various towns in Maine, settling on Chebeague Island during the mid-1940s. She resided there for about 17 years.

She moved to the back shore of Peaks Island in 1963.

She worked at many jobs, including ship welding, printing and animal breeding and showing.

She resided on the island with her dog, Baron, and enjoyed her other beloved animal friends - cats, dogs, deer and birds - until she entered the Barron Center in February.

There are no survivors.

A private service will be held. Arrangements are by Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home.
