Bernard 'Bud' Robinson

 

CHEBEAGUE ISLAND - Bernard "Bud" T. Robinson, 69, died Monday at a Portland hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Portland, a son of Everett L. and Pearl Hamilton Robinson. He graduated from Chebeague Island High School in 1945 and attended the University of Maine. He served several years in the merchant marine, and for two years in the Army.

He married Joan Bennett in 1953.

Mr. Robinson was a lobsterman until his retirement in November 1995. In the winter months, he did carpentry work on the island for Merle B. Ross and Son, and later for Lewis Ross.

He was a past member of the Chebeague Island Volunteer Fire Department, the Men's Club, and the Chebeague Island Methodist Church. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed painting and writing poetry.

He is survived by his wife of Chebeague Island; two sons, Gene and Mike, both of Chebeague Island; and two granddaughters, Ashley and Amy, both of Chebeague.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Chebeague Island Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Chebeague Island Cemetery. The Lindquist Funeral Home of Yarmouth is in charge of arrangements.
