CHEBEAGUE.NET OFFERS LOW-INCOME INTERNET ASSISTANCE

Great news for Chebeague Island computer users! In the spirit of providing Internet access to all who want it, chebeague.net offers assistance to low-income families so that everyone has the opportunity to be connected to the world and to the educational opportunities that the Internet offers.

In part, this assistance is made possible by the $150,000 grant received by chebeague.net from the ConnectME Authority. The grant was used to create the network infrastructure necessary to make Internet service available to every household on the Island. This funding was augmented by funding from the Recompense Foundation and the Island Institute.

As the system grows and becomes self-sustaining, we will be able to offer confidential assistance to those who might not otherwise be able to afford high-speed Internet service. Anyone who can demonstrate that they participate in either of the following programs is eligible:

	Free and reduced lunch
	HEAP (PROP heating oil assistance)
	Would otherwise be eligible for those programs

Participants pay only $19.99 per month for full Internet Basic DSL service and the installation fee is reduced to $50. Identities will remain confidential. DSL Standard and Enhanced service will be available for an extra $10 or $20 per month, respectively. A reduced suspended seasonal rate will not be offered,
