Chebeague Island is located in Casco Bay, just outside of Portland, Maine.
By air, the Chebeague traveler flies into Portland (PWM). On land, one travels to either Portland or Yarmouth, Maine, both easily accessible from the Maine Turnpike (I-95). Chebeague Island is accessed from Portland via a 1-1/4 hour ferry trip, or from Cousins Island in Yarmouth by a fifteen minute ferry run. Generally, the Cousins Island route is preferred by most travelers. In Portland, parking is available near the ferry terminal. For the Yarmouth ferry, parking is located about eight miles away from the wharf and is served by a shuttle bus that meets all boats. Information about lot location, fares and schedules is available from the Chebeague Transportation Company. Therefore, the traveler's best bet is to park at the CTC satellite parking lot on Route 1 near Exit 16 (Yarmouth), take the shuttle bus to the Cousins Island Wharf, and take the fifteen minute ferry trip to the Stone Wharf on Chebeague, which is a three minute walk from the Chebeague Inn. You will not find rental cars on Chebeague, but a taxi service is available. Chebeague Island is a very walkable place and bicycles are commonplace.
